Strategy has resumed its Bitcoin purchases, acquiring 950 BTC for approximately $75.7 million between September 14 and September 20, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
The latest purchase brings Strategyโs total Bitcoin holdings to 846,000 BTC. The company has spent approximately $63.8 billion to acquire its Bitcoin holdings, with an average purchase price of $75,416 per BTC, including fees and expenses.
Strategy paid an average of $79,670 for each Bitcoin in the latest transaction. The purchase marks the companyโs return to Bitcoin accumulation after two consecutive reporting periods without new BTC purchases.
Alongside the Bitcoin acquisition, Strategy continued buying back its preferred stock. The company spent $174 million to repurchase approximately 1.77 million shares of its STRC preferred stock during the same period. The amount spent on the STRC repurchase was more than twice the capital allocated to Bitcoin during the week.
Strategy did not sell shares through its at-the-market offering programs during the period. The Bitcoin purchase and STRC repurchase were therefore funded from the companyโs existing cash.
The company reported $1.05 billion in USD Cash as of September 20, down from $1.30 billion a week earlier. Strategy also held $5.04 billion in its separate USD Reserve after using $57.4 million during the period for preferred-stock dividends and interest payments on outstanding debt.
The latest transaction brings Strategyโs Bitcoin holdings back to 846,000 BTC, matching the level the company had reported earlier in the year before reducing its holdings through Bitcoin sales. Its holdings had fallen to 840,447 BTC in August before the company resumed accumulating the asset.
Strategy has also continued using its capital to repurchase STRC, formally known as its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock. The company has previously said that buying the preferred shares below their $100 stated amount can reduce future dividend obligations while allowing it to retire the securities at a discount.
As of September 20, Strategy had approximately $875.1 million remaining under its preferred-stock repurchase authorization. A separate $1 billion authorization for repurchasing MSTR common shares remained unused.
The latest filing shows Strategy continuing to allocate capital between Bitcoin accumulation and its preferred-stock strategy. The company now holds 846,000 BTC while maintaining more than $6 billion across its reported USD Cash and USD Reserve balances.
