The global digital assets industry gains a slight momentum on Monday as major cryptos like Ethereum (ETH) and Mantle (MNT) bag big. Bitcoin (BTC) is still trying to figure out where to head next after claiming a $51,000 price level. Amid these developments, Cathie Wood is reportedly doubling down on AI sales when the financial market is heading towards a crucial week.
Cathie Wood made an AI move
Amid jumping expectations of inflation data release, Cathie Wood has reportedly sold shares of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC) for the first time in more than two years. Wood is known for her role at Ark Investment Management. The move is part of a broader strategy to reduce exposure to TSMC and Nvidia Corp.
Cathie Wood’s this move suggests that the ARK is trying to cut down its exposure from AI linked shares. This comes in when Nvidia posted big numbers in its recent report. NVIDIA Corp (NASDAQ: NVDA) has gained more than 235% in the last one year. Its share price stood around $788 in the last trading session. However, AI linked cryptos have also gone down well due good performance of NVIDIA.
A report depicts that ARK’s Autonomous Technology and Robotics ETF had sold 8,599 American depository receipts. These shares are of Taiwan’s largest company. This was its first sale since the end of 2021. However, the data shows that the same ETF sold 2,362 shares of Nvidia on the same day. It is important to see that Ark funds had added TSMC’s share multiple times in 2023.
Crypto market set to witness crucial data ahead
As per the data, the crypto market is heading towards events including the announcement of the GDP quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) growth rate on February 28, 2024. The attention will be on whether growth will exceed 3.3%. However, it will potentially impact on future rate decisions and the Federal Reserve’s stance amid higher than expected inflation data.
While Bitcoin’s prices have remained relatively stable, other tokens, including Ether and those associated with the Ethereum ecosystem recorded good gains. Bitcoin price has increased by 23% in the last month but its still figuring out where to move next.
Bitcoin flagged red indexes on the 7 days matric. BTC price is down by around 2% in the last 7 days. It is trading at an average price of $51,265, at the press time. Its 24 hour trading volume is down by 11% to stand at $14.5 billion. However, it is holding a market cap of $1 trillion.
