A decentralized exchange (DEX) called dYdX is gearing up for one of its biggest events on December 1, 2023. It plans to release a substantial 150 million dYdX tokens, valued at around $490 million, for founders, investors, and other key contributors to the project.
dYdX’s major event on December 1, 2023
This significant token release will increase the circulating supply of dYdX by over 80% and also cause a price decline. Earlier this year, dYdX announced on X that it would be releasing substantial amounts of dYdX tokens on December 1, 2023.
Over the past month, the cryptocurrency market has experienced a relatively quiet fair market surge, influenced by the potential approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF and the recent failures of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in cases involving Ripple and Grayscale.
However, dYdX and other projects are set to release their tokens by the end of this year, potentially impacting the prices of specific altcoins and increasing their circulating supply.
Impact of Token Releases on Altcoin Prices
These projects, including dYdX, 1INCH, Aptos, and others, have caused a decline in the value of their respective tokens. When looking at the total value of tokens set to be released in December 2023, it amounts to nearly $800 million, with dYdX’s release being the largest at around $490 million.

The effects of these massive token releases by various altcoin projects are expected to be reflected in the token prices in the coming days. As of the current writing, dYdX is trading near $3.17, experiencing a 2.5% downside movement in the last 24 hours. The decline in dYdX’s price may be attributed to the token release scheduled for December 1, 2023.
Similarly, other altcoins such as Optimism (OP), Sui (SUI), 1 INCH, and Aptos are also witnessing a decline in their prices. For traders, it is advisable to conduct thorough research before engaging in trading these altcoins.
