An unusual amount of 400M
As per WhaleAlert, XRP has released 400 million tokens, catching many in the community off guard due to its timing and also the memo attached. Sparking curiosity among people, who are eager to understand its significance and the reasons behind it.
Usually, Ripple releases about 1 billion XRP tokens from its escrow wallet at the beginning of each month and relocks 80% after a few hours. But in February, only about half a billion XRP tokens were released.
The big transaction had a message mentioning an earlier escrow release that didn’t happen and names like “Hodor” and “John Deaton.” This has made people wonder even more about what’s going on.
It is unclear why this happened and what it could mean for XRP and Ripple. Because it happened at a strange time and the message wasn’t clear, some people are worried that things aren’t transparent and that it could indicate market manipulation.
