Study: The Philippines dominates Metaverse and Web3 gaming interest

The Philippines continues to lead the way in the world of metaverse and web3 gaming, according to a recent study by Coin Kickoff. The study analyzed Google searches from 193 different nations and found that the Philippines recorded 2,421 relevant Google searches per 1,000 individuals, the highest among all countries. This is particularly interesting given the high number of players who suffered losses during the P2E game craze in 2021-2022.

Despite the losses suffered during the P2E game craze, the Philippines still has the largest population of gamers in the world, according to the 2023 Global Digital Report. The report found that 95.8% of Filipino internet users aged 16 to 64 play video games. Axie Infinity, a product of Sky Mavis Inc., generated 35% of its traffic from the Philippines and had 2.5 million daily active users from the country.

In the business sector, the poll conducted by Coin Kickoff showed that 89% of professionals in the Philippines are open to using the metaverse to improve their productivity, with almost half believing it will foster a happier work atmosphere.

The US is also showing growing interest in the metaverse, particularly in Florida where it recorded 670 searches per 1,000 persons. McKinsey research found that over 75% of Americans are aware of the metaverse and 55% use at least one platform that utilizes its technology. Meanwhile, Vietnamese people have the most favorable opinions of the metaverse, with 56.8% of Twitter tweets regarding the virtual world expressing positive views. On the other hand, Irish citizens are the most skeptical about the metaverse, with 14.4% of tweets critical of it.

The report overall concludes that the Philippines dominates the trend in metaverse and web3 gaming, with its large population of gamers and positive outlook towards the virtual world. The US and Vietnam are also showing significant interest in exploring the potential of the metaverse, making it a rapidly growing industry with endless possibilities.
