Study reveals Netherlands and Turkey are most interested in Crypto

Study reveals Netherlands and Turkey are most interested in Crypto

While the crypto market’s instability raised speculations regarding people’s interest in it, a recent study highlights that the interest in crypto isn’t slowed.

A recent study from a cryptocurrency education platform reveals that citizens of many countries still have their interest piqued in crypto. The study observed the search on the internet in respective locations for crypto-related information.

According to the study, Netherlands and Turkey have topped the list with about 8.2% and 5.5% of their population searching for crypto-related terms.

Turkey accounted for approximately 4.7 million searches, leading the search list with the highest numbers. However, the search percentage population wise was higher for Netherlands but considering the higher population count of Turkey, the number of searches were higher there.

While Turkey was the second in the overall searches category, it came first for searches related to Dogecoin, with 812,000 monthly searches. The searches for Dogecoin were nearly double that of Ethereum, the country’s third most searched crypto.

Researchers involved in the study analyzed the combined number of searches for a specific set of popular cryptocurrencies into a percentage of the population for each country to calculate the percentage of locals searching each month.

Speaking on the rising curiosity around Dogecoin, especially over the last 12 months, an executive of the research organization said that-

“Dogecoin’s popularity has surpassed that of Ethereum in many countries, with nearly 2 million more monthly searches worldwide for the coin.”

In the past months, Dogecoin as a cryptocurrency has been a highly popular digital asset and crypto cultural phenomenon, especially after its high scaled popularization by Elon Musk.

Besides Dogecoin and Ethereum, other cryptocurrencies involved in the search study were Bitcoin, Solana, etc.

After the Netherlands and Turkey on the list came Germany, Canada, and the Czech Republic. Interestingly, the two major countries in the global cryptocurrency race, i.e., the United States and the United Kingdom, were not in the top spots due to the number of searches equivalent to the population sizes.

The United Kingdom took the 12th rank with 2.6% of the population searching for crypto-related terms, whereas the United States ranked 15th with 1.9% of the population searching for relevant terms.

In November, another study found that the Netherlands was also the most metaverse-ready nation, as reported by Todayq News. It had taken into consideration metrics like broadband speeds, internet prices, the number of blockchain financial startups, and the cost of high-technology esports. Marking all the metrics, the Netherlands was ranked as the most metaverse-friendly country scoring a 7.74 on a scale of 10.
