While the global regulatory approach to crypto seems to be blurred, a recent study highlights that the interest of the masses in crypto in particular regions hasn’t slowed at all. The study took into consideration crypto-related internet searches to produce results.
According to a study by Dua Crypto, a crypto informational website, the Netherlands topped the list as the most crypto-curious nation in Europe. The European Crypto Index analyzed 40,512,430 Google search queries across Europe and focused on 191 of the most significant keywords in the cryptocurrency domain.
Following the Netherlands came Slovenia and Switzerland in the second and third places whereas the U.K. was ranked 11th. The study also revealed that Bitcoin was the most preferred cryptocurrency in 35 countries out of 46 nations surveyed. After Bitcoin, Dogecoin became the second most preferred crypto, while Ethereum was fourth.
Data revealed that recording over 2 million search queries, the Netherlands ranked first with 0.13 searches per capita. However, Slovenia followed as a close second with 0.12. Although Switzerland claimed the third spot, its search per capita sat at 0.08, marking a significant gap from Slovenia. Notably, the United Kingdom ranked just below the Czech Republic at the 11th spot with 0.0621.

As for the bottom places, Belarus, Moldova, and Russia occupied the last three spots on the list with 0.008, 0.0069, and 0.005 searches per capita, respectively. The study couldn’t find ample data for Kosovo, Monaco, and Vatikan, which landed them at the 44th, 45th, and 46th spots on the list.
The study also revealed the dominance of Bitcoin over the region as it emerged as the most preferred crypto in 35 countries out of 46 that were included in the study. It was also the most preferred crypto choice of the region’s top three most crypto-curious nations.
According to the study, Ireland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Greece, Romania, and Moldova preferred DOGE over BTC, while Andorra favored PancakeSwap.
Overall, Dogecoin became Europe’s second most preferred crypto, with Shiba Inu as a close third. Surprisingly, Ethereum ranked as the fourth choice of the region. Cardano, Terra Classic, Axie Infinity, and Stellar also appeared in the rankings as the third favorite crypto choice of The Netherlands, Iceland, Andorra, and San Marino, respectively.
The increasing interest in crypto is nothing new for the Netherlands. Todayq News reported a similar study in December last year which revealed that the Netherlands and Turkey have topped the list of crypto-enthusiastic nations with about 8.2% and 5.5% of their population searching for crypto-related terms.
