Argentina's E-Trade platform is adding Bitcoin trading for its 200K users

IOL Invertironline, Argentina based online stocks trading company, recently announced plans to offer crypto trading exposure to its users.

Grupo Supervielle acquired the company in 2018 for $38.5 million. In the company’s second-quarter earnings call, the company’s CEO said that the trading app is working to allow customers to buy and sell cryptocurrencies, “concentrating stock and crypto-asset investments in the same platform.”

The company has already started earlier this year, highlighting Bitcoin-related stocks for those users who want to get exposure to the crypto sector without holding the coin themselves.

The feature would be extended to Argentinian customers at an unspecified date and powered by a third party. The company is already planning to expand in several other Latin American countries to offer US-based investment products.

IOL’s Invertironline parent company, Grupo Supervielle, is already present in the crypto segment. It participated in a funding round of $16 million in an Argentina-based crypto exchange, Lemon.
