Former Ripple director Sean McBride has sparked excitement within the XRP community. Sparking anticipation among the community for what he calls “big news” expected in the coming days. McBride, who served as Ripple’s Director of Global Talent Acquisition from August 2021 to July 2023, took to X last night to hint at what he calls “big” news on the horizon.
The “big news’ announcement
In a somewhat cryptic post, McBride stated, “Big news coming from Ripple and XRP in the next couple of days,” prompting a range of reactions from XRP enthusiasts. While some members expressed enthusiasm for the impending announcement, others approached it with caution. Citing past instances where anticipated disclosures failed to materialize into tangible benefits for the ecosystem.
One skeptic humorously questioned whether the impending news would follow a pattern seen in the past, where major companies announced intentions to utilize Ripple’s products or XRP, only to backtrack on their plans. Notably, Western Union and MoneyGram are among the notable examples cited, with both companies initially showing interest in leveraging Ripple’s technology but ultimately discontinuing their partnerships.
What is XRP army’s reaction?
These instances have left some within the community disillusioned. The anticipated adoption of XRP from such partnerships failed to materialize, impacting the token’s price movements. In response to people being upset, McBride said again that something really important is coming soon for XRP, and it might make the price go up. But he didn’t say exactly what it is, so people are guessing and talking about it.
Meanwhile, XRP has been grappling with market uncertainty, with its current value standing at $0.5021, down by 0.45% over the past day. The market cap sits at $27,331,240,266, with a circulating supply of 54,436,190,886 XRP. As of the latest data, the global cryptocurrency market cap has reached $1.65 trillion, marking a modest increase of 0.68% over the past day. Total trading volume across the market stands at $43.84 billion, reflecting a 1.44% uptick.
The decentralized finance (DeFi) sector contributes $3.8 billion to the total volume, accounting for 8.67% of the 24-hour market activity. Stablecoins continue to dominate trading, with a volume of $40.21 billion, representing 91.72% of the total crypto market volume. Bitcoin’s dominance, however, has slightly decreased to 51.05% over the day.
The excitement about the hinted news shows how much people in the XRP community want good things to happen. But because of past disappointments, people are being careful and want to see real results, not just guesses.
