
The ever-expanding metaverse has attracted several companies towards it. Recently, Huawei, a Chinese technology giant, has entered into partnerships with multiple blockchain companies to advance its metaverse dream project.
Huawei has announced a partnership with several firms to launch its metaverse and Web3 Alliance project, which aims to facilitate the speedy adoption and proliferation of these technologies in the region of East Asia and beyond.
Sources reveal that Huawei Cloud has announced cooperation with Polygon (MATIC), Deepbrain Chain (DBC), Morpheus Labs (MITX), and BlockChain Solutions, with others to follow in the future, at the 2023 Huawei Cloud Asia Pacific Partnership Leaders Summit in Bali, Indonesia.
Speaking to the media about the partnership and launch announcement, Pei-Han, CEO of Morpheus Labs, highlighted the involvement of the company in the development of the metaverse. He referred to Huawei as “one of the key partners in Huawei Metaverse – Web3 Alliance.”
In addition to the metaverse and Web3 Alliance partners, the Huawei summit brought together several renowned IT companies in the region. These companies include names like Cloudsec Asia, Sirius, HKT Enterprise Solutions, China Telecom, China Mobility, and China Unicom. The firms discussed efforts in broadening the technology’s reach.
According to the report, Huawei Cloud deploys cloud-native, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data to governments and businesses in nearly 30 countries, where it aims to carry out digital transformation and increase productivity, as it serves 730 million end-users around the world.
Furthermore, its recent blockchain alliance is just one of Huawei’s efforts on expanding new technologies. In November 2021, the company said that it had already set its sights on rolling out the 6G network by 2030, despite 5G technology only recently debuting on the global stage.
In December 2022, Abhinav Purohit, Huawei’s chief expert in business and strategy consulting in the middle east region, opined that the current infrastructure of the telecom industry is not enough to cope with the needs of the metaverse. However, 5G and 6G networks might be able to do so.
Purohit concludes that large-scale adoption of “5G networks will dramatically improve bandwidth while reducing network contention and latency, while 6G will increase speeds by yet another order of magnitude.”
China has been one of the most supportive nations in the development of the metaverse. China’s Suzhou city has set its sights on becoming a hub for metaverse development and innovation by 2025. The city aims to attract over 200 companies specializing in virtual reality technology and launch 30 scenarios focusing on healthcare, city planning, tourism, and education.
