Asset manager Bitwise Asset Management has taken a significant step toward launching its proposed Hyperliquid exchange-traded fund (ETF), according to updates shared by Eric Balchunas.
Balchunas revealed that Bitwise recently filed a second amendment for its Hyperliquid ETF, adding key details such as the ticker symbol BHYP and a management fee of 67 basis points (0.67%). These additions are widely considered late-stage developments in the ETF approval process.
The ETF is designed to provide exposure to Hyperliquid, a fast-growing decentralized trading ecosystem that has gained traction among crypto traders.
Market interest in the token, often referred to as HYPE, has been steadily increasing as decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms continue to expand their user base.
In addition to the updated filing, Bitwise has also submitted a Form 8-A registration, a regulatory requirement that typically precedes the listing of an ETF on public exchanges.
Analysts often interpret such filings as a strong indication that a product is nearing its official launch, pending final regulatory clearance.
The move reflects a broader trend of traditional asset managers seeking to bring innovative crypto-based products to regulated markets.
By packaging exposure to emerging blockchain ecosystems into ETF structures, firms like Bitwise aim to attract institutional and retail investors who prefer regulated investment vehicles over direct token holdings.
However, despite the progress, the ETF’s launch is still subject to approval by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which has historically taken a cautious approach toward crypto-linked investment products.
If approved, the Hyperliquid ETF could mark another milestone in the integration of decentralized finance assets into mainstream financial markets, further expanding investor access to the evolving crypto ecosystem.
